Swinton has always been game for anything: this bizarre, freeform work with overtones of Derek Jarman, orchestrated by German theatre director Christoph Schlingensief, is decent evidence. Sporting prosthetic teeth, a wig and a funny accent, Swinton pops up briefly as Christoph Waltz’s virtual therapist, Dr Shrink-Rom, in Terry Gilliam’s chaotic and frankly unenlightening fantasy parable. Not especially demanding, even if she had to reshoot it a year later after some plot details changed. Only a brief scene here, in her guise as the Ancient One, handing over the time stone to Banner/Hulk. While, like most Bowie videos, it is pretty annoying, it at least demonstrates Swinton’s ability to look good in trying circumstances. Swinton’s spectral-twin relationship with David Bowie led to this music-video collaboration.
